会長挨拶


　農業情報学会は、農業と情報に関する科学的・学術的検討を推進するだけでなく、応用科学の観点から、学際的・実学的な活動も重視し推進しております。農業は生物を対象にした総合的・学際的産業です。その生物は自己の遺伝情報を後世に広げていく乗り物であると、ドーキンスらは考えています。また、量子力学の不完全性を比喩した「シュレディンガーの猫」では、猫の生死を知った瞬間に、重ね合わせ的確率データが情報になります。AIが近年再び注目され、機械が知能を持ち得るのか？議論のあるところです。ヒトは、ペット、草木、果ては、無機物の石水までの行動・存在に知を見出すことができます。知の存在を見出せる我々の情報認知能力を知能と呼ぶならば、知は、それを知る者に存在することになります。これらから、情報とは、「知る」というヒトの主体的行為があるからこそ存在するものと考えます。

　つまり、情報のカプセルである生物を慈しみ、育て、生業にしているヒトもまた生物であり、それらに共通する情報は、ヒトの知るという行為が主体になっていると思われます。従いまして、農業情報学会では、農学的、情報工学的な学術の追及はもちろん、農業、情報というキーワードに関連する社会のすべての人々を繋いでいく、コミュニケーション・ハブとしての機能にも重きを置き、活動を進めております。具体的には、学会誌及び出版物の刊行、大会、研究発表会、講演会、セミナー及び講習会の開催、表彰事業の実施及び支援、調査、研究及び開発の実施並びに支援、会員間の連絡のための会報、名簿の発行、会員間の相互扶助、親睦のための事業、国内外の関係諸団体との協力関係を増進するための事業等です。

　生産者、研究者、技術者、行政担当者等が1989年1月29日に茨城県の一堂に会し、急発展する情報通信機器を使用した農業に関する情報交換会「農業情報パソコン通信大会」の開催が発端になり、1989年8月8日に「農業情報利用研究会」が創立されたのが本学会の起源です。当時、参加された方々がそれぞれの立場から、コンピュータ・通信についての夢・希望を熱く語っておられました。その想いが、社会に出たての世間知らずの若造の私にも、強く印象に残りました。南石晃明先生・前会長の強力なリーダーシップによりまして、2022年10月に法人登記され、一般社団法人農業情報学会(Japanese Society of Agricultural Informatics)として新たなスタートを切りました。諸先達・先輩方の意志を継ぎ、人と人とを繋ぎ、発足当時の熱き追憶を大切にして、微力ながら奮闘いたす所存です。農業と情報にご興味・お仕事をお持ちの皆様に、ご入会・ご賛同を拝しますとともに、本会活動のご理解とご支援をどうぞよろしくお願い申し上げます。

 The Japanese Society of Agricultural Informatics (JSAI) not only promotes scientific and academic studies on agriculture and informatics, but also emphasizes and promotes interdisciplinary and practical activities from the perspective of applied science. Agriculture is a comprehensive and interdisciplinary industry that deals with living organisms. Dr. Dawkins and others believe that the organism is a vehicle for spreading its own genetic information to future generations. In "Schrodinger's Cat," a metaphor for the incompleteness of quantum mechanics, when human-beings know whether the cat is alive or dead, the superimposed probability data change into the information. AI technologies have been attracting attention again in recent years, and there is a debate as to whether machines can have intelligence. Human-beings can find out the intelligence in the behavior and existence of pets, plants, trees, and even inorganic stones and water. If our information-cognitive ability to find the existence of the intellectuality is called intelligence, then intelligence exists in those who know it. Hence, we believe that information exists because of the human's proactive act of "knowing."

 In other words, humans who care for, nurture, and make a living from living organisms, which are capsules of information, are also living organisms, and the information common to all of them is considered to be primarily based on the human act of knowing. Therefore, the JSAI is pursuing not only academic pursuits in the fields of agriculture and information engineering, but also to serve as a communication hub that connects all people in society related to the keywords "agriculture" and "information.” Specifically, we publish journals and publications; hold conventions, research presentations, lectures, seminars, and workshops; present and support awards; conduct and support surveys, research, and development; publish bulletins and lists for communication among members; provide mutual support and friendship among members; and promote cooperation with related organizations in Japan and abroad.

 The dawn of the JSAI was the "Agricultural Information PC Communication Congress" held on January 29, 1989, in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, where farmers, researchers, engineers, government officials, and others gathered to exchange information on agriculture using rapidly developing information and communication equipment. Taking this opportunity, on August 8, 1989, the “Workshop of Agricultural Information Research,” the predecessor of the JSAI, was established. At that time, the participants passionately talked about their dreams and hopes for computers and communications from their respective standpoints. Their thoughts left a strong impression on me, even as a young person who had just entered society. Under the strong leadership of Dr. Teruaki Nanseki, former president of the Society, the Society was registered as a corporation in October 2022, and made a new start as a General Incorporated Association, the Japanese Society of Agricultural Informatics (JSAI). Inheriting the will of our predecessors and predecessors, I will strive to connect people with people and cherish the passionate memories of our early days. We would like to invite everyone who is interested in agriculture and information to join us and support our activities.
